Tunisia .. Series of Arrests of Journalists, Yousfi Latest Name

Al-Taj News – A Tunisian judge on Saturday ordered that journalist Mohamed Yousfi, known for his strong criticism of President Kais Saied’s policies, be held in custody, hours after his arrest.

Critics say the move aims to silence strong and independent voices and reinforce authoritarian rule.

The head of the National Syndicate of Tunisian Journalists, Ziad Dabbar, along with other journalists, said police arrested Yousfi while he was preparing to enter Express FM radio station to participate in a radio program.

Yousfi’s arrest comes as the latest move against journalists, following the imprisonment of a number of media figures, including Ziad El-Hani, Mourad Zeghidi and Borhen Bsaiss, in addition to Khawla Boukrim, who was sentenced in absentia in June to four years in prison.
